PRINCIPLES

  • Positive relationships, communication, understanding, and nurture lead to wholesome living.
  • Healing, reconciliation, restoration, transformation, and forgiveness are essential to resolve conflict, misunderstanding, alienation and/or violence.
  • People, communities, and societies are capable of change.
  • Altruism underlies healthy volunteer action.
Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) is a community of volunteers who form a circle of friendship around an individual  who had been imprisoned for sexual offences. We assist them to successfully reintegrate into the community and not re-offend. We offer support, model, and encourage a law-abiding life style. In the process, we hold each other accountable for our behaviour. When a person is released from prison and requests a circle, we gather together 3 to 5 trained community volunteers to befriend and act as a support and accountability system for him or her within the larger community. At the same time, the circle attempts to ensure that community safety not be compromised.

VISION

Can't spend a dime?
Then, spend some time... helping us help those in need.
We believe that people are capable of change, and we are committed to building a community where this is possible. Our approach involves action, support, and accountability for previous offenders, whilst ensuring community safety.
VOLUNTEER
Post it, tweet it, share it. The more people you tell, the more help we can receive.
The circle is a circle for everyone. To help requires many hands, hearts, and minds. We've got many successes under our belt, but we need more help, and that's where you come in.

CoSASS is part of a Canada-wide network of CoSA centres and part of a growing international movement. While you can volunteer with our circle, there's much you can do on your own too! Contact us to learn more about opportunities.

MISSION

ABOUT US

Walking together for everyone's wellbeing

Learn how we're helping to change our community.

Together, we can make a difference

  • Every person is created equal and worthy of the right to respect and dignity. Human rights apply to everyone.
  • “Community” is basic to human societies and essential for wholesome living. Community may be defined by ties to geography, family, ethnicity and culture, or “common goals”.
  • Human well being is based on physical, social, psychological, mental, and spiritual needs being met.

Through trust, support, and accountability, CoSA South Saskatchewan works with people who have previously offended sexually. We seek to provide support to previously incarcerated offenders, resulting in living a crime-free, victim-free, productive life in the community.

VALUES

Make a single or monthly donation directly from your bank account, credit card, or Paypal.
Circles of Support and Accountability are predicated on the value of friendship. With support and accountability, people are capable of change. Justice involves the practice of inclusion. No one does CoSA alone. No one is disposable.
